A bill in the Oregon legislature would limit the use of antibiotics on farms and ranches to only sick animals. Proponents fear that we are in danger of a “post-antibiotic future,” where drugs will become less and less effective. Opponents argue that the Food and Drug Administration is doing an adequate job regulating the use of antibiotics in farm animals and that state level regulation is unnecessary.
