About this presentation
Solving the most visible problems in American health care quality—improving patient safety and reducing variation in practice—though important, is insufficient to create a system of care that truly meets social need. A much more comprehensive set of changes are in store if we want high value and better health. The Institute for Healthcare Improvement labels the needed agenda the “Triple Aim”—improve care for individuals, improve the health of the population, and reduce per capita costs. Finding leadership toward the triple aim, and the political will to pursue all three aims at once, is the next and greatest challenge for securing the system of care that we need. Dr. Berwick will explore IHI’s latest ideas for the design of that system.
